As a Level 2.5 BSS Engineer, you will support and maintain business-critical BSS applications, troubleshoot complex incidents, and help drive modernization of our monitoring and automation infrastructure. You will serve as a key operational link between engineering, customer support, and cloud operations teams. This is a hands-on technical role, ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, has a solid systems and application background, and is ready to expand their skills in cloud technologies, automation, and AI-driven operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and support the Aeris BSS platform, services, and cloud-native applications.
  • Troubleshoot platform components including web/application servers (Tomcat, JBoss), middleware (Kafka), API services (REST, SOAP, JSON), LDAP, and containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Perform proactive health checks and service impact analyses across telecom services.
  • Assist with implementation, verification, and rollout of new software releases, platform configurations, and BSS features.
  • Build and maintain automation scripts (Python, Shell, or AI Agents) for platform operations and service recovery.
  • Support pre-sales activities by offering technical insight into platform capabilities and customizations.
  • Collaborate with Level 1 support, product engineering, DevOps, and delivery teams to ensure resolution of incidents and root cause analysis.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and provide remote troubleshooting support.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles.
  • Deliver operational KPIs and monitoring dashboards using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and GCP-native monitoring services.
  • Support exploration projects involving GenAI and AI/ML integration into support workflows and automation tools.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Telecommunications, or related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a similar support/engineering role.
  • Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
  • Working knowledge of (any combination of):
    • Middleware and integration platforms: Kafka, JBoss, Tomcat
    • Web services/APIs: REST, SOAP, JSON o Containers & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes
    • Scripting: Python, Bash, or Perl
    • SQL and basic database operations (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle)
    • Linux/Unix operating systems
  • Understanding of cloud platforms, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar (AWS, Azure).
  • Familiarity with enterprise IT monitoring and incident management best practices.
  • Good understanding of telecom architecture (BSS/OSS), networking protocols, and authentication systems (LDAP, OAuth) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills (spoken and written English).
  • Strong problem-solving ability and a customer-first mindset.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and act decisively.
  • Analytical thinker with keen attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and continuously curious

Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to GenAI tools (e.g., LLMs, MCP, RAG, embeddings) or AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Vertex AI).  Java programming knowledge and understanding of enterprise BSS architecture.
  • Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, and container image registries (e.g., Artifact Registry or Docker Hub).
  • ITIL Foundation or experience with structured incident/problem/change management processes.
  • Experience with virtualization, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools
